On Camera and Presence

Executive Presence Course

"You need to work on your executive presence." It is one of the most common pieces of professional feedback and one of the least useful, because it tells you almost nothing about what to change. A CMarie engagement decodes that feedback into specific, practiceable behaviors, with a particular focus on how you come across on camera and on video calls, which is where most professional presence is judged now.

Every situation is different. Tell us what you are preparing for and we will recommend the right starting point.

Presence on camera is its own skill

Presence in a conference room and presence on a Zoom call are related but different. On camera, small things get amplified: a habit of looking away from the lens, a tendency to lead with context before the point, a slight hesitation that reads as uncertainty in a recording. Each of these is a behavior, and behaviors can be practiced.

This work is led by a producer who has directed executives and talent on camera for two decades. The focus is on what actually changes with repetition.

What we will work on

Every engagement is built around your specific situation. These are the areas we cover:

Structuring your answer so the headline comes first and context comes after, the way that reads as confident rather than tentative
Using pauses without filling them with filler words
Eye contact that reads as engaged without feeling intense
How to hold the room on a video call: setting the tone at the start, staying present in the middle, summarizing at the end
Pace and stillness, including deliberate movement that does not distract

How it works

Every executive presence engagement starts with a CMarie Call. We want to understand what you are preparing for before recommending the right format for your situation.
